To me this was a continuation of the first challenge. I competed in my 20s and in my 40s onwards I felt my metabolism and therefore my abilities to get lean had changed. I’d play with keto and other ways, even trying diet strategies i used during my twenties but they never seemed to work. However this time I made the plan and stuck to it. And it started working in that first challenge. I wanted to see how far I could take it, and in the second challenge, I wanted to win. I had the taste back. I placed my goals beyond the challenge – punching past the target. I’m thinking of competing in Masters next year because I know I can get there. The fire is back, beyond just lifting as heavy as possible. I took back control of my health. And after a few Covid related hospital stays, I wanted that control. Thank you for the spark.

I ended challenge 1 at 231 lbs. I was strong AF but there was no definition. So I started cutting. Followed the diet planner for 6 weeks and then thought I knew better and cut deep (TD 2125 cal, NTD 1700) and added huge amounts of cardio. The final two weeks, I got things back under control and finished at 2710 calories per day. I hit my low weight of 209 at the end of week 8 and never got back there. The challenge gave me the confidence to hire a local coach and I plan on competing in the light heavyweight division next year! The support of this group, the great workouts and execution in the app, have made all of these things possible. I am eternally grateful.

It has been one of my goals to compete in a bodybuilding show ever since I started weight training about 4 years back. I have been on the fence about starting a prep in the past and I decided it was time for the character building, relationship testing challenge of preparing for a show lol. It just so happened that the Hypertrophy Coach 10 week transformation happened to coincide with the exact time I would be starting prep and I’m a big fan of Joe’s teachings so I thought I’d try out the app while I was at it and see what I’d learn. As a trainer myself I’m familiar with programming for clients and designing programming for myself that’s autoregulated based off how I’m recovering from sessions and how I’m progressing in the log book. I ended up writing my own training blocks for these last 10 weeks, but based all my exercise selections and technique for those as they were demoed the HC app, which was quite an adjustment to how some of my technique was especially for the lats!! I saw huge improvements in how I connected with individual muscles during sessions. Before switching up my technique, I could never feel my lats or rear delts even when trying to directly train them so this has been a game changer in my exercise execution on my pull days to be able to intensely feel the tension and the crazy pump in them the entire set. Another thing I really enjoyed adding to the warmup portion of my sessions was the activations to get my joints primed to be in those end range positions, and to pre-prime my mind muscle connection. I did these between warmup sets in many of my sessions and I always felt more mentally and physically ready to perform than if I had skipped them. I experienced less tweaks in my low back legs and rhomboids after adding these. For my diet I calculated my approximate deficit based on my predicted maintenance calories and activity level and double checked it with the calculator provided in the app. I am now by far leaner than I have ever been 2 weeks out from my first show (classic physique) and I am super glad to have excitement pumped back into my pull days again just with some minor tweaks to my positions and mechanics! Love this app and all the extra HC university content that’s provided too.

Starting Weight: 183# Top Weight: 190# Finishing Weight: 168# This is the first time I’ve worked to methodically diet down and reveal the details that my years in the gym have created. Now I’m hungry.. But not just for food. There is a hell of a lot more to learn. This app and contest helped renew my appetite for staying on top of information in the fields of Exercise and Wellness; for the benefit of both myself and those around me. I am incredibly proud of the work I put in over the course of this contest and am even more excited to apply all I’ve learned to my future training.

So guys, early final check in for me, but here it is – *my final form after 9.5 weeks of cutting.* Have had the majority of my calories (particularly carbohydrates) around my workouts, and ran cannonball delts for the first 6 weeks, and am on week 4 of the PPL split (Ruff’s!). **80.4kg – 74kg, 6.4kg drop in total** – did some water and carb manipulation (6 litres of water 2 days before) and 2 day carb refeed (up to maintenance cals through carbs). Started cut around 2300 cals, then upped to 2600 with a high carb split (50-30-20) C/P/F. Ended cut around 2300 again. Had 1 refeed per week after check in. Really happy with how my back has come through over the last through weeks, and finally starting to see some striations in the hamstrings on the back shots! Also really happy with my results considering my ulcerative colitis flare up and hospital visit. Thank you all for the support and motivation.

It has been a difficult push mentally, overcoming personal obstacles not only related to fitness but thanks to this app, I’ve been able to make progress in ways that are valuable to me

John Carroll

First 4 weeks I remained at maintenance, dropped cals for the last 6 weeks.

Khiaro Promise

I am a amateur bodybuilding competitor wanting to earn my pro card. This challenge was extra motivation to work towards my best physique to date. I believe I did just that.

Wei Wu

My name is Wei, I’m 40 years old. As a gym rat with over 25 years of experience of training, I think it is the right time to put myself in this journey to see if I can achieve a better version of myself and a better physique to compete for the very first time of my life, especially I can get constant help and guidance from Joe’s program since I bought it for life. These recent years are tough for everyone, but with a goal in my mind, I have to say I seriously put my best effort into following the training program, diet plan and everything else to make sure I am on the right track to achieve my goal. Time fast forward, not only did I improved my physique, I also competed at two different local bodybuilding shows. For each of them, I won open bodybuilding welterweight class. Although this 10 weeks transformation challenge comes to end, it also means a new beginning of my next journey. With Joe’s app, I believe I will one day make my dream come true! Thank you, Joe, for your absolutely outstanding app and this great opportunity of 10 weeks transformation challenge to forever change my life!

Nikita Gorin

Hi I’m Nikita form Russia. I’ve used calorie and macro calculator through all my prep. Also I’ve done Terrence Olympia 2021 Program. We have same goals and same main body parts to focus so it was really great

I did a 6 week kind of maintance period where I didn’t track my food and a 4 week deficit. I was expecting the result to be a little bit better but i’m happy with the glutes and with my performance in the gym specially.

Kristyn Lia

My goal was to put on some size and maintain reasonable condition as I would like to be ready to jump on a plane and compete as soon as I can. I thoroughly enjoyed the process and it really helped salvage my mental health. Throughout the challenge we were in lockdown and I was restricted to my home gym. However I pretty much did not see another human from July to October, haha! I am blessed to really have invested in all the necessary machines. I had some health challenges including a bicep tear and a surgery following ICU admission. However, I was able to implement the knowledge on the site so that I did not regress. I celebrated my successes with a photoshoot at the end of the challenge. I am confident the next challenge will be in prep for my first pro show in the US 💪🏻

Kristi Conrad

I had plateaued after a long prep and had gotten sick and couldn’t compete. Apparently I needed to change up my training and the Terrence Olympia was just what I needed to lean out.

Alex Gab

Working hard as an orthopedic surgery resident to try to make gains as a figure competitor. Recovery and making time for gym is sometimes difficult but this app’s information has been invaluable. Successfully added some mass in the last 10 weeks and looking forward to more gains to come!
